Chairman of the Global Standardization Advancement Committee

Keiji Munakata, OKI ELECTRIC CABLE CO., LTD.

The Global Standardization Advancement Committee was officially launched in 2021.
Currently, the Machine Vision SWG, established by the Committee on Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) within the Technical Committee on Multimedia Applications, is the main body of the SWG. The SWG aims to respond to the diversification of international standardization activities, centering on telecommunication technology and machine vision technology, in cooperation with the TTC.
The TTC is a standardization organization for the domestic information and communication network approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
At the request of the Telecommunications System Committee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Committee deliberates on the contributions from each country proposed to the Telecommunication Standardization Division of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T*1), formulates Japan's response policy, and makes proposals and upstream contributions from Japan as necessary.
In coordination with the industry standardization activities of the G3 and JIIA Standardization Committees, we will contribute to the development of fair and open machine vision technology while reflecting and promoting these activities.

*1 = ITU-T is the abbreviated name of the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standard Sector.
It is a UN agency that develops recommendations for standardization of telecommunications on a global scale.
Recommendations become the norm.
